About
Central Ohio’s Authentic Public Market
North Market is a destination that serves over one million guests each year and is consistently ranked as one of the top public markets in the country. We proudly provide an authentic Columbus, Ohio experience that highlights the diversity and vibrancy of our community, both economically and culturally, by promoting and incubating “best in class” local, independent businesses.
Our heritage can be traced back to 1876. Across many transitions, economic ups and downs, and countless merchants, vendors, and visitors, North Market stands today, stronger than ever, as a symbol of our community’s resilience, cultural diversity, and success.
150th Anniversary
For 150 years, the market has been a landmark where neighbors meet, cultures mix, and local flavors shine. As we reach this incredible milestone, we’re reflecting on the legacy built by countless vendors and visitors while celebrating the energy that keeps the market thriving today. Here’s to the next 150.
Our non-profit mission
The North Market Development Authority (NMDA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves as the steward of a vital community asset. For 150 years, the North Market has been more than a place to buy groceries; it’s a living piece of Columbus history, a cultural landmark, and a catalyst for economic growth. Our non-profit structure is the very foundation that allows us to fulfill this public purpose.
